Unisex Men's and Women's Lighted House Slippers are more a blessing than a novelty.
I awoke to the darkened bedroom. Thinking my small son might have cried out in the night, I jumped up and hurried barefoot across the cold floor toward the hall.
Wham. "OWwww.." I tried to stifle my cry, but the sound of my head hitting the door was probably enough to wake my wife as it was.
As I tip-toed down the hall rubbing my head, I heard her behind me ask, "Hey clumsy, do you want a flashlight?"
I chuckled back in her direction to let her know I was alright; and to let her know I appreciated her attempt at humor.
I surprised myself by whispering back, "What I really need is uncle Robert's bedroom slippers."
I found my son sound asleep. Yet, as I scratched his back, smoothed his hair, and kissed him on the forehead, I kept thinking about those lighted slippers I had seen the last time I was at aunt Ruth's and uncle Bobby's house.
It was with both pride and glee that ole uncle Bob had said "I want to show you something", and he asked us to turn off the lights as he left the living room.
The next thing I saw was two bright blue lights flashing up and down as he strolled back on into the room. I was at first amused, but then amazed as he rattled on about his 'techno slippers', as he called them.
"The lights in these slippers only come on when you wear them, and they don't come on in the daytime," he said with beaming pride.
His smile never faded even as he flopped down on the couch, put he feet up on the table and went on and on about seeing in the dark with hands free.
Autie Ruth admitted he practically lived in them.
She was sitting next to me, and I asked her where he got them. She told me he had bought them on the internet months ago, and said that they still seemed as bright as the day he got them.
Now as I gazed down upon my sleeping 'pride and joy', and as I tried to force the swelling bump on my forehead back down, I made a decision.
The next day I called uncle Bobby and he told me the name of his slippers. Then I looked up bright feet slippers at Google.
Of the few merchants that carried these slippers, I found that only the 'Home of BrightFeet Slippers' carried all 6 available colors in each of the 3 unisex sizes.
And since BrightFeet offers free shipping on 2 or more pairs of slippers, I did the only logical thing.
I went to the BrightFeet Store to buy them ; and not only did I buy a pair for myself, but I also bought a pair for the lady I love.
I notice she is smilng at me now as I glance over at her watching me type this.
I guess I might have embarrassed her a bit. She just drifted out to check, she says, on that magical being that is our son.
...and I notice she is wearing those "Striped" colored slippers.
